چکیده
Accurate estimation of the degree regeneration in tropical dry forest (TDF) is critical for conservation policymaking and evaluation. Hyperspectral remote sensing light detection ranging (LiDAR) have been used to characterize deterministic successional stages a TDF. These stages, classified as early, intermediate, late, are considered proxy mapping age since abandonment given area. Expanding on need more accurate mapping, our study considers attributes TDF area continuous expression relative attribute scores/levels that vary along process ecological succession. Specifically, two remote-sensing data sets: HyMap (hyperspectral) LVIS (waveform LiDAR), were acquired at Santa Rosa National Park Environmental Monitoring Super Site (SRNP-EMSS) Costa Rica, generate age-attribute metrics. metrics then entry-level variables randomized nonlinear archetypal analysis (RNAA) model select most informative from both sets. Next, learning (RAL) algorithm was adapted independent fused comparatively learn levels ages In this study, four indices five found potential map area, compared with these results, significant improvement through fusion accuracy generated maps. By linking group dynamic gradient transition patterns emerged.

Phyllostomid Bat Occurrence in Successional Stages of Neotropical Dry Forests
Tropical dry forests (TDFs) are highly endangered tropical ecosystems being replaced by a complex mosaic of patches of different successional stages, agricultural fields and pasturelands. In this context, it is urgent to understand how taxa playing critical ecosystem roles respond to habitat modification. Because Phyllostomid bats provide important ecosystem services (e.g. facilitate gene flow ...
متن کاملTropical Forests of Réunion Island Classified from Airborne Full-Waveform LiDAR Measurements
From an unprecedented experiment using airborne measurements performed over the rich forests of Réunion Island, this paper aims to present a methodology for the classification of diverse tropical forest biomes as retrieved from vertical profiles measured using a full-waveform LiDAR. This objective is met through the retrieval of both the canopy height and the Leaf Area Index (LAI), obtained as ...
متن کاملTowards 3d Mapping of Forests: a Comparative Study with First/last Pulse and Full Waveform Lidar Data
This paper highlights several approaches to segment and reconstruct trees from LIDAR data and compares the results acquired both from first/last pulse and full waveform data. In a first step, we set up a conventional watershed based segmentation procedure, which robustly interpolates the CHM from the LIDAR data and finds possible stem positions of the tallest trees in the segments calculated fr...
متن کاملAlignment of Hyperspectral Imagery and Full-waveform Lidar Data for Visualisation and Classification Purposes
The overarching aim of this paper is to enhance the visualisations and classifications of airborne remote sensing data for remote forest surveys. A new open source tool is presented for aligning hyperspectral and full-waveform LiDAR data. The tool produces coloured polygon representations of the scanned areas and aligned metrics from both datasets. Using data provided by NERC ARSF, tree coverag...
متن کاملIntegration Ofwaveform Lidar and Hyperspectral Data to Estimate Structural Attributes of Tropical Forests
Estimation of forest structural attributes is important in biodiversity and global carbon cycle studies. These estimates can be used to predict important forest characteristics such as aboveground biomass (AGBM), which helps determine the amount of carbon in terrestrial vegetation pools. Traditional field sampling-based estimation methods are not only time consuming, expensive, and limited to l...
